Virginia Zrake has been an attorney since 1985, concentrating her practice in all aspects of real estate, contract, and business law. She is licensed to practice law in both Delaware (2001) and Maryland (1985).
In the commercial real estate arena, she handles everything from the purchase or sale of shopping centers to loan transactions and commercial leases for both landlords and tenants, including ground leases with big box retailers like Lowes. Virginia also advises clients on construction law matters, including negotiating agreements with architects and contractors.
Virginia works with individuals and guides clients in some of their most important decisions, whether it’s buying a home or preparing wills and other estate planning documents.
In the business arena, Virginia advises on the best structure to use in owning a business or building, forms the entity, and negotiates agreements among shareholders. She negotiates the purchase and sale of ongoing businesses, including restaurants. She also assists in severing business relationships.
Virginia has worked for several large, prestigious law firms, including Venable, LLP in Maryland and Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP in Delaware. She has also served as in-house counsel to Hechinger Company, a home improvement retailer, and The Charles E. Smith Companies, a large developer of office buildings, retail centers, and residential apartment buildings in the metro D.C. area.
Virginia is a member of the Maryland and Delaware Bar Associations. She is a past president of the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and has been an associate member of the Delaware Board of Bar Examiners. She is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars sponsored by National Business Institute.
